We’re proud to announce that Nerium International Chief Financial Officer Jeff Branch has been honored by Dallas Business Journal as the 2014 CFO of the Year in the Manufacturing and Distribution division. Jeff was among 26 finalists announced by DBJ in September 2014, one of two officers in the Manufacturing and Distribution field, and the only officer involved in the direct sales industry. He’s a strong leader and deeply cares for the people he works with. Now, get to know Jeff in his own words.
My name is Jeff Branch, and I had the privilege of joining Nerium International at the start of the company. I currently serve as CFO, but have enjoyed working in many of Nerium’s departments these past few years. As CFO I can see the financial evidence every day of the hard work provided by the entire Nerium staff and am proud to be a member of such a committed team.
I was born in Minnesota, raised North of Chicago, and spent as much time as possible hunting and fishing in the North Woods of Wisconsin. I still enjoy a family vacation in upper Wisconsin each summer.
In my younger days I was the first mate on some of the yachts cruising in the Great Lakes, I taught water skiing, served as a cook at a YMCA summer camp (served 3 meals a day, 7 days a week for 12 weeks for 300 people – I lost 20 pounds that summer), and I was a weekend cowboy working 1000 head of cattle on a 3000 acre ranch near Madisonville, TX.
I married my best friend, Bonnie, in 1971. We have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Our family Christmas tradition each year includes watching the Christmas Story movie – yes after all these years we still laugh at the same parts. Additionally, one of my personal gifts to Bonnie each Christmas is to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” together.
The first 22 years of my career was in banking. The past 20 years has been in the direct sales industry, which included ownership of a direct sales company with Nancy Gaffney (Nerium’s Director of Commissions) for 10 years. It took a 42-year journey to arrive at the best possible destination – Nerium International.
I enjoy reading as it provides a great escape each evening. I try to mix in one worthwhile nonfiction book for every 2 mindless adventures, but I’m sure it should be the other way around.
My favorite core values are “Practice Servant Leadership” and “Have Fun and Help Others to Have Fun.” It’s important to me to get the work done on time and accurately. But it’s also important that our work environment is safe, satisfying, and a place we can look forward to going to each day.
