My name is Matthew Miller and I am the Lead Product Owner for Marketing. The best way to describe what I do is that I am here to un-roadblock a project. I make decisions that allow a digital project to keep moving forward and align with business goals. The thing I love most about my role is the challenge of making interesting and difficult decisions on many issues that up come in our business.
I think the Nerium Core Value I identify most closely with is “Create a Positive Team Spirit and Family Atmosphere”. I really enjoy spending time with the people I work with day to day. We work really hard, but we also have a lot of fun. In my short time at Nerium I have come to really look forward to working with many of my team members and almost every day there are plenty of laughs to go around.
I consider my sister Maureen a role model. After an accident years ago, that left her paralyzed from the waist down, she fought off breast cancer multiple times leaving her health in a very bad way. She passed away earlier this year at a young age, but she was always someone who I saw fight very hard against some very tough odds and that was always an inspiring story to me.
I have always had a fascination with archaeology (even minored in it in college), and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” is probably my favorite movie of all time. Being a pre-teen when it came out, I wanted in on that kind of adventure and world discovery. And man, that whip was cool! One of my favorite books is Watership Down. The themes of teamwork, family and overcoming tragedy are written in such a terrific story that resonates no matter your age.
I have been fortunate enough to do a lot of international travel, but I have always wanted to go to Marrakesh, Morocco. It seems to be such an exotic, unique city with so much history, and I would love a chance to walk the markets and eat the food. I’d also really want to stay in an old school riad, which is a traditional Moroccan house or palace.
With my more formative years taking place in the 80’s, I am a hardcore 80’s alternative music fan. So my 3 bands would be New Order (have seen them), U2 (have seen them) and the closing act would be my all time favorite band, The Smiths (never seen them – but have seen Morrissey solo and Johnny Marr solo tours).
