Nerium Staff Profiles: Get to Know Julie!

FFF_8.28 (4 of 10)My name is Julie Janak, and I’m the Senior Community Manager for the Social Media Team. I absolutely love social media and all of the bizarre and wonderful things that the internet can provide, which is why I love this career. However, I am also #blessed (yes, I said it) to work with some of the most awesome, witty, interesting and caring people around. The social team here is so special that it’s just icing on the cake!

I seem to identify with two of Nerium’s Core Values equally: Be Real, and Have Fun and Help Others Have Fun. I have been told by many that I seem to “never know a stranger”, and at the end of the day, I want to make sure everyone feels welcome, valued and included. If there’s one thing that I truly embrace in my core, it’s to be genuine, honest and REAL in all I do. I like for the phrase “you have my word” to actually mean something when I say it.

As described earlier, I’m definitely an extrovert! I guess I’d describe myself as a master social networker- in real life, not just in the digital world! But it’s about more than just accumulating friends; I enjoy connecting with people, learning what makes them special, and ultimately enriching their life with some joy.

JulieJ and DadMy father is probably the best role model I can think of. He is the most patient, selfless & hard-working man I know. He’s in his 60’s and has finally cut his hours DOWN to 40/week! He’s put up with a lot from the three women in his life, yet continues to do wonderfully sweet gestures like going to fill your car up with gas, making you breakfast (or just giving you his), or even coming to pick you up across town late at night when you have car trouble. I hope that one day I have the same amount of patience and selflessness with my children that he’s had with me.

My favorite movie ever is still, unabashedly, Anchorman. I can quote along with it, and it absolutely tickles my odd, random funny bone like no other. I really like to read, and don’t do enough of it, and it’s hard for me to pick a favorite book. I’ll go with Donald Miller’s “A Million Miles in a Thousand Years”, because it actually caused me to make a change in my life (for the positive), and I really enjoy Don Miller as an author/writer in general.

JulieJ in NYCI’m a huge live music gal, so it’s almost unfair to limit my dream concert to three artists. I’ll go with Justin Timberlake because he’s a fantastic performer, Ben Folds because he’s a great lyricist and songwriter, and Gwen Stefani because she, too, is a total diva and amazing performer…who I also happen to resemble. 😉
